[INITIATIVE] Global Innovation Talent Pipeline Intiative

by Jeonghwan (Jerry) Choi 2023. 9. 1.

Project Name: Global Innovation Talent Pipeline Initiative (2023)

Project Background and Introduction

Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) has a proud tradition of molding high-caliber global talent, with graduates earning Master's degrees from world-renowned institutions. To enhance this legacy and bring a paradigm shift in the educational practices, we aim to apply for the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform Projects at the Zhejiang Province Industry-University Cooperation Collaborative Education Project." This project provides us an opportunity to reform our curriculum and strengthen the "University-College Collaboration" by integrating our educational model with key European global innovators such as BOSCH, Siemens, Volkswagen, and Benz, known for their excellence in "Sustainability Technology."

Project Features and Highlights

Our project stands out with its unique blend of curriculum reform, innovative teaching methodologies, and collaboration with top global innovators. The curriculum will feature project-based learning, hybrid learning, and self-directed learning, integrating real-world projects from our industrial partners. This fusion of education with industry will not only provide students with a hands-on experience of applying their knowledge to solve practical problems but will also prepare them for future global challenges in sustainability technology.

Project Goals

Our goal is to enrich the education model of WKU by creating a bridge between universities and industry and providing students with the skills and experiences they need to excel in their future careers. By fostering relationships with leading global innovators, we aim to make WKU a center for 'Business and Technology Problem Solving' skills development. The intended outcome is to produce globally competent graduates who are ready to take on leadership roles in their chosen fields.

Project Contents

The project will revolve around several key components of problem-solving skill development, which will be undertaken by the WKU faculty members from the College of Business and Computer Science. These components include defining a problem, goal setting, external and internal analysis, strategy formulation, action planning, and communication. By mastering these areas, students will be able to apply critical thinking and innovative solutions to complex business and technological problems.

Project Expected Outcomes

The expected outcomes of this project include a revolutionary curriculum designed to meet industry demands, increased collaboration with key global innovators, and a robust system for nurturing problem-solving skills among students. In the long run, we anticipate that our graduates will take on leading roles in globally recognized institutions and contribute positively to the field of sustainability technology and business.

Project Implementation Plan

The project will unfold in four stages: Developing Instruction System Design, Creating Learning Content (Hybrid Online/Offline), Partnership Building, and Hosting Project-Based Learning. Each stage is crucial to the success of the project and will be managed by the dedicated team members, ensuring the maximum efficiency and quality of outcomes.

Funding Planning

The budget for the project is 10,000 RMB (1,403 USD). The funds will be allocated in the following manner: 25% for Developing Instruction System Design to ensure a strong foundation for the new curriculum; 25% for Creating Learning Content to deliver engaging and effective lessons; 25% for Partnership Building to foster productive collaborations with key global innovators; and 25% for Hosting Project-Based Learning to offer students practical experience in solving real-world problems. This balanced approach ensures that each crucial aspect of the project receives adequate attention and resources.
