MOTHER'S DEADLIES COOKIE BAR (from Kate Shoemaker - Quaker)

Tracy Satterthwaite, my respectful Quaker friend, served Mother's Dealies Cookies for my preliminary oral exam for dissertation on Jan. 25, 2013. Thanks for Tracy's kind and hearty support, I passed the exam.

During the exam meeting, all committee really enjoyed the cookies. And the cookies provided a good mood.

As soon as I passed the oral exam, I took a cookie and bite it.

Immediately I got relieved from exam anxiety and stress.

I really thank for Tracy, and I want to share the cookie recipe.

Kate and Bill shoemaker were elders in the Urbana Friends Meeting (Quaker) when I was a child. Kate loved and interacted with the kids much in the same way that Sandy Bales does now. There are two things I remember most about Kate. The first was the knitting group she hosted for us young girs. More than learning to knit, we learned to enjoy other "women". (I was probably 9 or 10). We laughed and talked about everything! The other was that often she brought "dealies" to potluck. The kids were very sly trying to sneak away with one before we were supposed to. I'm sure no one knew what we were up to!
