WKU CBPM VPAA (Vice Provost of Academic Affairs) calls for ideas and suggestion for improving classroom management.
Responding the calling, WKU CBPM MGM faculty members suggest sevral improvement ideas. (Mar. 01, 2022)
1. Avoiding 'Overbooked' class and Mismatching classrooms!
In 2022 Spring, WKU CBPM Professors are sufferring from "Overbooked" class problems. For example, a class that was originally designed and allocated to a 30 seats classrooms got more than 35 even 40 students as below Example.
In CBPM building, we have several regular classroom capacity options.
30 seats
48 seats (C225, C225, A201 will be increasing 60 seats)
60 seats (flexibily 63 seats such as C323, C423)
64 / 68 seats (A101, A102)
In 2022 Spring, CBPM teachers get overbooked class size, and this can be avoided from 'managing classroom size'.

2. Minimizing the MUDA (Unnecessary motion and movement).
CBPM faculty members can minimize MUDA (unnecessary motion and transportation) when we get classroom within our alllocated floor. For example, if a Management teacher can use 2nd floor classrooms, we can dramatically reduce the motion and transporation that would increase the efficiency of class delivery.
We need to consider this Operational efficiency when we allocate teachers to classrooms.
3. Fair CBPM Class Schedule Allocation (Regular Day time Class Schedule)
When WKU started operation, English department and Libral Arts colleges initiated it's operation. And, those colleges took over the best "Class Schedule Slots such as 10AM ~ 4:30PM - Daytime Schedule Slots". And, the previlege continues. However, CBPM - slow starter - got poor lanes such as 8:30AM or night classes.
Too early in the morning class or night classes do not get "Staff or Admin supports" and it deteriorate the class quality of CBPM. For example, teachers who has technical problem in night classes cannot get professional technical support from IT department. And it occurs frequently.
Examples of too early morning class and night classes of CBPM MGM.
CBPM requests for "Fair Lanes for the Fair Game". CBPM courses should have more 'regular daytime' class schedul between 10AM ~ 4:30PM to make our business teaching better not only for students but also for faculty members.
4. Improving Pass/Fail option operation!
Pass / Fail option was offerred by Kean USA in order to accommodate the "REMOTE" class participants' learning and assessment issues. However, the option is not seemed to be fair for 100% Face-to-Face classes because it would harm the feeling of justice of participants. Pass/Fail option is better not to exercised for Face-to-Face class.
However, if the Pass/Fail option is necessary. We may need a significant improvement of it's operation.
Currently, Registra office only take the direct application for a faculty advisor for Pass/Fail option. But, faculty advisors has little situation knowledge of individual students needs and wants. In addition, faculty members suffer from "random, irritating, urgent, and unpredictable" request from students for Pass / Fail option in the avocational time. To improve the efficienty and responsbility, Students must take a responsbility of the application of Pass / Fail option to Registra office while a faculty advisor can give a check and sign on the application.
5. Class Protocol under the Pandemic situation
WKU needs 'established' Class Protocol under Pandemicm situation.
Tentatively, WKU CBPM has unofficial returning protocol and class protocol for our reference with summarziing July 21 2020's Email from Kean USA and WKU Academic Affairs.
Returning to Campus Protocol:
WKU CBPM Class Protocol Under COVID-19:
If WKU Faculty members can have a clear guide of Class Protocol under pandemic situation, we can plan, organize, lead, and control the classes better in the chaotic situation.
We request for the official "Class Protocol"
